6 months old!!!

Ava is 6 months old now, and it has flown by!

She weighed in at 18lbs 3 oz (Miles was 19lbs at 6mo), is 27 in tall (Miles- 28 1/2). Though we have a return of the reflux she is on a new med and is happily enjoying solid food!

She is sitting up by herself and talking up a storm. she tries to make you laugh by doing this crazy growling, grunting noise, and is just an overall happy girl! She adores her big brother and the feeling is definitely mutual. Miles can consistently make her belly laugh like no one else and is so helpful in making sure Ava is well taken care of! We couldn't ask for 2 better kids!

Here's an updated look at her progression in pictures!

Miles' 5th Birthday Party!!!

We had Miles birthday party a bit early this year so that family could come down and join us. Months ago he said he wanted a magician birthday, so we got Bryan Lizotte to come and entertain the kids. He was wonderful and really engaged everyone no matter how big or small! Miles had a great time with his friends and even got some magic in his wand to do a trick with Bryan!

Miles and Mommy recently enjoyed a date to see Toy Story 3 and ever since he has wanted a "hard toy Buzz-Lightyear, like Nicky has." Not only did he get his wish, but a whole bunch of other Toy Story presents! He is one lucky little boy and so are we!

Miles and Ava's Baptism/Dedication Service

So we have been members of South Church for about a year and had decided we would get both kids baptized at the same time. Our church is a wonderful community of people who openly welcomed our entire family for the day and celebrated our kids with us! The service was wonderful and the kids behaved well. Afterwards we were fortunate to have all of our family join us at the house, and our friend Jean Molodetz come and take pictures of all the generations (visit her website to see them.. they are gorgeous, and she is incredibly talented!)

Here are the pics we got of the day!

Lots of catching up to do!!!

It has been very hectic around here with summer fun and two kids to chase after, so blogging has lagged behind a bit. So here are some of the pics you have missed... Enjoy!

April and Easter

Lots of things have happened since out last post! Mommy went back to work, which means Ava is going to "baby school." She is going to the Y with Miles and is a favorite with the girls there! She is such a good baby for them and we know she is in good hands. We eased her in starting with a visit with Mommy and worked up to leaving her for the whole day on Thursday. There were no tears (from mommy or Ava)! Miles and Daddy got to have a "Daddy Day" and spend a whole day just the two of them exploring (and also at the auto shop- but that's a whole other story!).

We also headed to NH for Easter weekend. We spent Saturday at Nanna and Papa's house, and then Sunday at Grammy and Grumpa's. It was a gorgeous weekend and we got to have TWO Easter Egg Hunts outside. Miles did a much better job this year dying eggs and only colored himself minimally :o)

We've been having some great weather mixed in with some awful rain and cold. On the nice days we have gotten to go outside and play. Ava loves sitting outside and watching Miles play. Miles had gotten a pitching machine from Big Nanna and Nannu for Christmas and has been enjoying hitting some balls with Daddy.

Miles is such a great big brother as you will see in the video below. He loves to talk to Ava and make her smile and she just absolutely adores him. It is so cute and sweet to watch.

2 Months Old!!!

We had Ava's 2 month check up today, and as expected she is off the charts!!! 13lbs 15.5oz (14 lbs really), and she is 25 inches long! She is cooing and smiling and following faces and voices- all the things she is supposed to! She's also just as strong as her brother was at this age, holding her head steady when upright and even standing up on our legs! Jolly Jumper, here we come!

Todat we stopped in the infant room for a bit to star practicing for Thursday when Mommy has to go back to work. Ava will be fine (though Mommy will be a mess!), she took a bottle from one of her teachers and was looking around at all the noises from the other kids. Until the end of April she will be the youngest in her room, then another baby will join who was born 2 days before her.

This past weekend we hung out at home and also went to the Science Center in Hartford. Miles had a blast pretending to be a penguin, flying paper helicopters and playing in the water room. We'll have to go back since we dodn't see 2 floors worth of stuff! What a great place!

March Update

Here are some more pictures and a video of Ava "talking." Enjoy!

Happy St.Patrick's Day!

We celebrated St.Paddy's Day like we always do- with a good boiled dinner at the AOH in New Britain.

Also in honor of the holiday Miles will now do his Irish Step Dancing! We showed him a video of Riverdance once and that was all he needed to recreate it- with a little of his own flair added :o)

The Next American Idol?

Miles loves singing, and Auntie got him an MP3 radio for Christmas so that he could download songs and play them on his own (instead of messing with our CD's).

He has a very eclectic array of songs from Maynard to Irish Folk. He is so expressive when he performs them and gets his moves going. All we did was show him one YouTube of "Riverdance" and he was step-dancing away to the Irish tune (we'll have to get that on video soon!)

Here he is lip-synching to Adam Lambert's "Whataya Want From Me."

New Update and Pics!

Lots of new pics to share!

Ava is growing at a rapid pace. We see the pediatrician on the 29th so we will see the official weight, but we're guessing she is somewhere around 14lbs. We are still waiting to see if her eyes will remain blue or change overnight like Mommy's did.

Miles is still enjoying preschool- he had crazy hat day at school to help celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. We are in the process of registering him for Kindergarten (OMG!). I have no idea how can be old enough to be going to Kindergarten- 5 years has flown by!

Mommy and Daddy were able to enjoy a night out thanks to Nanna and Papa. We went to the Mill at 2T to celebrate Dena's birthday (the big 3-0). This is our favorite restaurant by far. They only have 7 tables and a counter where you can watch the chefs prepare the meals that change daily. Believe it or not those counter spots are the most coveted seats since you get to talk to the chefs and watch every move they make. The food is incredible!

First trip to NH!

We made our first trip to NH this past weekend to visit all of the family! Miles of course slept most of the way and Ava slept the whole way and woke up just as we got off the exit. I'm sure the next trip will not go as smoothly!

We don't have another visit to the pediatrician until 8 weeks, but I would guess that Ava is probably pushing 12lbs by now- she is getting pretty heavy and is completely filling out the Newborn size PJ's! Miles continues to be such a great big brother, helping out whenever we ask him to. If Ava cries he immediately goes to her to see what's the matter and how he can help.

Enjoy the pictures!

Pregnancy Pics

So, throughout the pregnancy I had been taking pictures of my growing belly. I put them all together in a slideshow (though I should have worn the same clothes each time). It's pretty cool to see the progression through the weeks! Enjoy!

New pictures!

We have made it more than 2 weeks with all 4 of us in the house!

We were supposed to get a "Snowpocalypse" last Wednesday, but we only saw about an inch and half of snow. Still it was enough for Miles and Daddy to make a snowman and have some fun outside!

Ava is getting bigger every day! At her 2 week visit she is tipping the scales at 9lbs 10.5oz! They are only expected to be back to birth weight by 2 weeks, and she blew that out of the water! She has been sleeping as well as can be expected at night. Mommy and Daddy can't wait for that first 6 hour stretch though!

Enjoy some of the new pictures we have been taking!

Happy Birthday Ava!!!

Ava Fleno Sherwood joined our family on 1/28/2010 at 10:22pm. Mommy went into labor Thursday morning at 7am, and was at the hospital by 12:30pm. After laboring till well into the night it was decided to do a C-section- Ava decided to stay sideways and get stuck causing her heart rate to dip when contractions came. The surgery went well and they finally announced, "it's a GIRL!" She weighed in at 8 lbs 8oz and measured (according to the hospital) 22.5in (21in at her pediatrician appointment). She is the perfect completion to our family! Miles is so in love with her and wants to hold her and kiss her all the time. If she is crying or fussing he comes running to comfort her, and belly laughs while she gets the hiccups or make silly faces. Everyone is adjusting to life with four of us in the house now and we're looking forward to what comes ahead.

Welcome to our New Family Blog!
